Green the NHS

Obesity, lack of awareness of the world around us, not to mention the debt crises and its impact on mental and physical health, are all driven by capitalism and affluenza. Changing to a sustainable and green future requires fundemental changes in every aspect of our lives.

Obesity is, in part, tied up with car dependency. All of my local doctors surgeries have car parking. Not one has even a single cycle rack.
One of my neighbours, seriously overweight, drives her car to her place of work literally three streets away. The council supplies her with free parking. But again, there are no cycle racks.
As a pedestrian I am expected to go into unpleasant, lonely subways because traffic flow is more important.
At even the most basic level nothing is happening to make town walking and cycling attractive and safe. The car still comes first.
I'm afraid I think our species is on its way to extinction, when the climate crisis is not being addressed in even these quite minor ways.
